Lincolnshire’s young carers, and their families and friends, are being invited to share their views on the support available locally.
A young carer is a child or young person who cares, unpaid, for a family member or friend who is mentally or physically ill, disabled, or misuses drugs or alcohol. Based on the 2011 Census and available research, there are estimated to be around 6,000 young carers in Lincolnshire currently.
The council is asking young carers, and their families and friends, to take part in an online survey, explaining how they feel about the support provided by the authority’s young carers team. Fill in the survey.
Cllr Mrs Patricia Bradwell OBE, executive member for children’s services, said: “The council greatly values the role played by young carers and we have support available if you need it. We can offer you and your family an opportunity to talk about your caring role or any worries you may have and help you understand you are not alone. We want to know about your experiences to help ensure support is available for you in the right way, at the right time and through the right person, so please share your views.”
