Join us for a free workshop on ‘How to find your pub’s history’ this April.
As part of the ‘Inns on the Edge’ project, funded by Historic England, the research team are hosting four workshops in Grimsby, Saltfleet, Boston and Skegness.
Pubs have been at the centre of Lincolnshire’s historic towns and villages for centuries, and now you can help uncover their stories. Attendees will find out how these much-loved community buildings have evolved, and explore how you can read the history in their walls.
With the help of heritage experts you will discover how to use free and easy to access resources to uncover the history of the area’s pubs.
Inns on the Edge project officer, Marc Knighton, said
“Whether you’re interested in local heritage, or just curious about the origins of your ‘local’, the workshops will show you how to discover the history behind Lincolnshire’s pubs.
“Much of the rich community history of Lincolnshire’s pubs remains unrecorded and is at risk of being lost. The workshop will also look at how everyone can do their bit by recording and sharing memories to help preserve them for the future.”
The workshop will be taking place at:
- Grimsby Fishing Heritage Centre, on Tuesday 12 April from 10.30am to 1.30pm
- Saltfleet Social Centre, on Tuesday 12 April from 4.30pm to 7.30pm
- White Hart Hotel, Boston, on Tuesday 19 April from 10.30am to 1.30pm
- The Ship, Skegness, on Tuesday 19 April from 4.30pm to 7.30pm
No prior knowledge is needed, and the workshops are free to attend.
