Household Waste Recycling Centre Booking System - Autumn 2026

About the booking system

All Household Waste Recycling Centres will be introducing a booking system to provide a consistent service for residents and helps us manage demand more effectively across all sites. The booking system spreads visits more evenly throughout the day. This reduces queues, improves safety and makes visits quicker and more predictable.

Fly-tipping

There is no evidence to suggest this will happen.

Independent research commissioned by DEFRA found no link between Household Waste Recycling Centre booking systems and increased fly-tipping.

Traders using our sites

The booking system won't stop every attempt at misuse, but it will help us identify repeated misuse much more effectively than the current arrangements and act upon these cases.

Personal information

Your information will only be used to:

  • manage your booking
  • confirm eligibility to use the service
  • monitor site usage
  • help improve the service.

It will not be used for any unrelated purpose. Your personal information will be processed in accordance with UK data protection legislation

Before you book

Lincolnshire County Council is introducing a booking system for all Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs).

You'll need to book a time slot before visiting to dispose of household waste. The booking system is being introduced to improve recycling, reduce queues, improve traffic management, enhance safety and create a better experience for everyone using the sites.

Household Waste Recycling Centres are busier than ever before.

The booking system will help:

  • reduce queues and waiting times
  • improve traffic management
  • improve safety for residents and staff
  • reduce disruption on nearby roads
  • improve recycling performance
  • help ensure the service is used fairly by Lincolnshire residents.

Booking system

The booking system is not live yet.

We'll let residents know well in advance when bookings open and provide guidance on how to use the new system. It is anticipated that the system will be up and running in Autumn 2026. Every visit to dispose of Household Waste Recycling Centre will need to be booked in advance.

Booking a visit to a Household Waste Recycling Centre is completely free.

Booking a Household Recyling Centre

Providing that your household pays Council Tax in Lincolnshire, you can continue to use any Lincolnshire Household Waste Recycling Centre.

The booking system changes how you visit, not which sites you can use.

  • if your own a second home and it's in Lincolnshire and you pay council tax for the property, you can use the Household Waste Recycling Centres for household waste from that address. You'll need to register the property when creating your account.
  • if you are moving to Lincolnshire, once you have moved into a Lincolnshire property and are liable for council tax, you can register for an account and start making bookings.
  • same-day bookings will be available where capacity allows.
  • if you are unable to making a booking yourself, a family member, friend or carer can make a booking on your behalf provided that the household from which you are disposing of waste is in Lincolnshire.
  • if you can't book online, you can make a booking by telephone through our Customer Service Centre.

Making and managing your booking

Once the system goes live, simply visit our website.

You'll choose:

  • which Household Waste Recycling Centre you'd like to visit

If you do not have internet access, you can call the Customer Service Centre who will be able to help make your booking.

What information will I need?

You'll need:

  • your vehicle registration
  • your postcode
  • your email address or telephone number
  • any permit details if required

Once you've made your booking you'll receive a confirmation with your appointment details.

Your visit

When arriving for your visit, please bring:

  • your booking confirmation
  • the vehicle you booked
  • any permits if required.

Proof of address may occasionally be requested.

Your waste

Please if possible, separate your waste. Separating your waste before you arrive makes unloading quicker, reduces waiting times and helps us recycle more materials. You can bring household waste that is accepted at the site.

A full list of accepted materials is available on our website.

Please do not bring commercial or trade waste. Some hazardous materials may also require specialist disposal.

Please check our website before travelling.

Large amount of household waste

Large amounts of household waste may still be accepted provided they comply with the site rules.

If you're unsure, please check the website or contact Customer Services before travelling.

Vans

Vans can enter the sites, subject to the existing permit rules.

Please check the website before booking.

Visiting the Household Waste Recycling Centre

Arrival without a booking

Staff will first check whether appointments are available. If there is availability, you may be able to make a same-day booking.

If the site is full, you'll be asked to make another booking before returning.

Arriving early, late or missing your booking

Please arrive within your allocated time slot. If you're delayed, we'll do our best to accommodate you where possible.

If you've missed your appointment, you may be asked to make another booking depending on site capacity.

While on site

You'll have enough time to unload safely. Most visits only take a few minutes.

Staff on site

Visitors are normally responsible for unloading their own waste.

If you do need assistance, please speak to a member of site staff who will do their best to help you.

Arriving on foot or bicycle

Please check the access arrangements for your chosen site before travelling, as these vary between Household Waste Recycling Centres.

Reuse shops

If you are planning on only visiting the Reuse Shops, you do not need a booking. However, if you're planning on disposing waste and visiting one of our Reuse shops, you will need a valid booking.

If you decide to dispose of waste during your visit and haven't booked, you will need to check if appointments are available. Residents with pre-booked appointments will always take priority.
