Council Services:

Planning Applications

Planning deals with both strategic planning matters relating to the promotion of sustainable development and individual planning applications.

For most types of private building projects, enquiries concerning the need for planning permission and applications for such permission should be addressed to your Local District Planning Authority.

The exception to this is where the developments relate to County Matter (minerals development or waste management facilities) where the County Council is the responsible planning authority.

The County Council is also responsible for ensuring mineral and waste developments are carried out in accordance with the permitted details.

We also deal with planning applications by the County Council for its own development sites, including the following:

  • Schools
  • Libraries
  • Waste recycling sites
  • Fire Stations
  • Highways schemes
  • Trading Standards
  • Social Services offices

Responsibility for this area of work lies within the Planning Group.
