Grantham Highway improvements

A series of major highway works are scheduled to take place in Grantham throughout 2024.

Below is a list of the planned works:

Spring 2024

  • SKDC’s proposed changes to the Market Place in the town centre
  • Reconstruction of sections of High Street, Great Gonerby and Gonerby Road, Grantham
  • Construction of a new pedestrian crossing at High Street, Great Gonerby

Summer 2024

  • Reconstruction of Dysart Road
  • Reconstruction of Alma Park Road
  • Construction of a new Greenhill Road / Barrowby Road pedestrian crossing
  • Construction of a new Barrowby Road / Poplar Farm pedestrian crossing
  • SKDC’s proposed changes to Station Road and A52/A607 junction

Aims and benefits

  • improved road surfacing resulting in safer and smoother journeys for residents
  • improved crossing facilities for pedestrians, cyclists and others not traveling by car
  • improved quality of life for residents of Grantham

Cost and funding

The total cost for the roadworks (excluding SKDC’s Market Place and Station Approach works) will cost nearly £4 million and is being funded by us.

Timeline

  • March 2024: Public information event held at Jubilee Church Life Centre
  • April 2024*: SKDC’s proposed changes to the Market Place begin for five months
  • May 2024*: Great Gonerby road reconstruction begins for one month
  • May 2024*: Construction of a new High Street, Great Gonerby pedestrian crossing begins for one month
  • June 2024*: Construction of a new Barrowby Road / Poplar Farm pedestrian crossing for one month
  • July 2024*: Construction of a new Greenhill Road / Barrowby Road pedestrian crossing for one month
  • July 2024*: Reconstruction of Alma Park Road begins for up to two months
  • August 2024*: Dysart Road reconstruction begins for four months
  • November 2024*: SKDC’s proposed changes to Station Road and A52/A607 junction begin for four months
