What is an unpaid carer?
A carer is anyone who cares for a friend or family member (unpaid) who cannot manage without their support, due to:
- illness
- disability
- frailty
- a mental health problem or addiction
(Source: Carers Trust). This does not include professional carers or carers through a voluntary organisation.

If you need to speak to someone urgently
We will aim to contact you within 10 business days of your request to discuss your referral. However, if you feel that you or the person you are caring for are at risk or you are unable to continue your caring role, please do not complete the referral form and instead call 01522 782224 (8am to 6pm, Monday to Friday) or 01522 782333 (outside office hours).
