Manufacturers can issue a product recall or safety notice. They will do this if a product is unsafe for consumers to eat or own.
A recall is a request for consumers to return an item when it could:
- put you in danger
- result in legal action against the manufacturer
A safety notice is where a manufacturer must issue a warning. This is to warn to past and future consumers about a dangerous product.
The Charted Trading Standards Institute (CTSI) lists all recalled items. It also provides advice on what to do if you own the product.
