Your Lincolnshire

Shaping the future of Greater Lincolnshire

Did you know one council collects your bins, but another disposes of the waste? Or that different councils handle roads and parks? And if you run a food business in Lincolnshire you would contact the county council to apply for a pavement café licence but a different council would do your food hygiene inspections.

County, borough, city, and district councils share these different responsibilities.

The government plans to replace this system with new unitary councils - a single 'tier'. This single organisation will deliver all local services and will be one point of contact, simplifying who does what and how.

The ‘Your Lincolnshire’ proposal suggests that just one council should replace the current seven district councils and one county council in Lincolnshire, to build on the county’s strengths, simplify services and save money in local government.

We asked residents, businesses and other organisations what they thought about our plan between July and September 2025. You can see the results of this engagement on Lets Talk Lincolnshire
