The Bailgate improvement scheme would see the current paving setts along the road lifted out and re-fitted onto a stronger, harder-wearing mortar base. Any damaged stones would also be replaced.
This would make the surface more robust while increasing safety and maintaining its heritage look.
Aims and benefits
- Increase safety for pedestrians and road users
- Prevent cracking and shifting of the stone paving
- Save time, money and disruption in the future
- Construct a paved area that is easy to maintain and will last
Cost and funding
The estimated cost would be £1.7 million, with the scheme being fully funded by us.
