The Carholme Road improvement project will see the following improvements carried out in the heart of Lincoln:
- full reconstruction of the carriageway along Carholme Road, between Nelson Street and just past the golf club, including new road surfacing and road markings
- replacing critical sections of damaged kerbs and footways
- repairing the county council’s highways drainage system
- resurfacing the Carholme Road and westbound A46 approaches to Carholme Roundabout to replace the high-friction surfacing that has started to fail
Aims and benefits
- Improved infrastructure for those traveling on foot
- Smoother and safer journeys for those travelling by car
- New traffic lights with improved technology
- Help alleviate standing water in the area by improving the highways drainage
Cost and funding
The estimated cost is £2 million, with the scheme being fully funded by us.
Timeline
- August 2023: Preliminary surveys carried out
- May 2025: Contractor appointed
- June 2025*: Works begin
- Autumn 2025*: Project complete
