The Usher Gallery

The Usher Gallery acts as a premium register office with up to 80 of your nearest and dearest guests for a wedding ceremony like no other.

Ceremonies take place in Gallery One, this stunning space located on the ground floor will be transformed into a home for you and your loved ones to unite in honour of this milestone event.

You are allocated a two hour slot as part of your booking, which includes thirty minutes before the start to allow your guests to arrive, take their seats and enjoy the surroundings. Your ceremony will typically last thirty minutes and is accompanied by music and readings of your choice. Following the main event, you will be entitled to an hour of photo time in the picturesque Temple Gardens.

The Usher Gallery is a unique wedding landmark venue in Lincoln. This stately building provides the perfect backdrop for your fairytale wedding. Home to an outstanding collection of artworks, sculptures, and decorative arts, this timeless location is bursting with culture and creativity and is a dreamlike venue to mark the start of the rest of your life.

Your ceremony at the Usher Gallery

The Usher Gallery is a working art gallery and, therefore, cannot be tailored to you. However, once you set eyes on these exquisite pieces of work, you will not want it any other way.

Please also be aware that only artificial silk flowers may be used in the venue due to the very precious art works on display.

We understand the importance of personalising your occasion and offer plenty of ways you can customise your ceremony with us. We also give you full access to the sound system in order to create an ambience that is true to you. The ceremony room will be closed to the public throughout the duration of your service.

You can visit to view the space at any time and do not need an appointment, viewings are available Thursdays through to Monday from 10am to 4pm.

We also offer wedding open days for couples are encouraged to come and view the room throughout the year.

Our ceremony fees

The Usher Gallery offers a premium venue at an affordable price. As a register office venue, the ceremony fee covers the hire of the venue and the registrars to conduct your ceremony.

Making your day extra special

Make the most of your time at the Usher Gallery by treating your guests after your ceremony. Whether you would like to raise a toast to your new life together or offer an ice cream treat, there are plenty of options available to enhance your celebration.

We have an agreement in place with City of Lincoln Council to allow private suppliers to use the Temple Gardens to provide your guests with time limited food and drink directly after your ceremony.

Important Information:

Sourcing a supplier and all additional costs are the responsibility of the couple and not included as part of booking the venue
Caterers can set up one hour before your ceremony begins
There is no access to services provided, so your supplier must ensure they have their own generator and water supply if required
A Food/Health Safety Risk Assessment questionnaire must be completed at least two months before your ceremony
Final approval is given by City of Lincoln Council
Your supplier must ensure that any rubbish is disposed of appropriately and the site left in a clean and tidy condition

Terms and conditions

The following terms and conditions will apply to ceremonies at the Usher Gallery.

there are no customisation options for the room itself, and the ceremony offer is as pictured, providing a contemporary style
only artificial silk flowers may be used in the venue. Displays must not include real flowers, dried flowers, berries, grapes or soft fruit. These may stain the surfaces in the venue and attract pests, which cause damage to collections
confetti of any kind is not permitted indoors. Bio-degradable confetti is allowed outside the venue
bookings include access for the bridal car to the grounds; no other parking is available, but there are public car parks close by
please be aware that animals are not permitted (assistance animals are excluded)
food and drink are not permitted at The Usher Gallery
photography is allowed in Gallery 1, Entrance Hall, Stairwell and Upper Landing, but flash photography is not permitted. Close-up shots of the collections are not allowed. There may be restrictions on photographing some artworks due to copyright restrictions, which will be explained in advance. There should be no trailing leads
helium balloons and bubbles are not permitted in the venue; they can cause damage to our collections
candles with naked flames are not permitted within the venue. Battery powered candles (LED) are used, and we provide these for the lanterns pictured
smoking is not permitted indoors
smoke machines are not permitted in the venue; this may cause damage and increase risks to collections
dancing is not permitted in the Usher Gallery; this may cause vibrations and undue risks to the collections
