River Bain and River Waring Flooding

RE: River Bain and River Waring, near Horncastle (Lincolnshire).



1) Does the council hold any records on historic flood events along the River Bain, River Waring, or any other incidents related to flooding, whether fluvial or surface water/other source in nature?

2) Is the council aware of any other schemes in the River Bain and River Waring catchments that may be of relevance to this study/ assessment?

3) Any other information the council may hold that is relevant to considering the flood risk to/ from the River Bain and River Waring and surrounding area.

Decision

I can confirm that the information requested is held by Lincolnshire County Council. I have detailed below the information that is being released to you. 

 

1. Lincolnshire County Council's records of flooding are published on https://www.lincolnshire.gov.uk/flood-risk-management/flood-investigations

 

2. Lincolnshire County Council in its role as Lead Local Flood Authority have recently completed a capital funded Flood Alleviation Scheme in the village of Kirkby on Bain. Further information is available upon request. Further to this we are not currently aware of any other schemes in the River Bain & Waring catchments.

 

3. For more information, please contact the Environment Agency (Authority for main rivers) and/or the District Council with regards to planning matters.
