You must have a licence to place a skip within the highway. It must not present a danger, cause unnecessary obstruction, or conflict with planned works or events.
The skip provider must apply for the licence, not the customer. The licence will be issued to the provider, subject to approval.
To apply for a scaffolding or hoarding licence, you must first register with the council.
You must apply and pay for all licenses at least five working days in advance:
|Skip||Up to 14 days||£45|
|Scaffold only||Up to 28 days||£75 per 20m section|
|Scaffold and hoarding||Up to 28 days||£75 per 20m section|
|Hoarding only||Up to 28 days||Free|
|Cherry picker||Up to 28 days||Free|
- We will take your payment then assess your request. We will contact you to discuss your works further, if required.
- If approved, we will email your licence to you, along with any conditions of work.
- You can only place your skip or begin work when you have received your licence.
If we cannot resolve any issues, we will refuse your application and refund your payment.
