Future4Me star honoured with prestigious Matt Kendall Award.
Annually, UK charity StreetGames recognises the contribution of the country's leading grassroots community sports projects for their outstanding dedication to the youth and community sport sector.
And Dave Taylor, who has been part of the Positive Futures in Gainsborough for the past 5 years, was announced as the winner of the 2020 Matt Kendall award by StreetGames last night.
The highly sought after Matt Kendall Award recognises an outstanding contribution to youth action by one of the projects from across its national network.
The nomination highlighted Dave's drive and commitment in establishing a youth led project in partnership with Gainsborough College alongside his continued support for all things youth related in the area.
While the awards are normally presented to winners at a national awards ceremony in Liverpool, the 2020 Streetgames Awards were postponed due to COVID-19. Despite the current situation, this year’s nominees still went through the award panel of experts and category winners were then announced via the organisations social media platforms.
Steve Rowe, community sports worker – Gainsborough, said: "I am absolutely made up for Dave and this is fully deserved. You're journey and commitment is an inspiration and we're all so proud of you."
Dave Taylor said: "Thank you to Steve Rowe, Lori Candela, Hannah Laws and the rest of the Gainsborough team. Also thank you to everyone we work with, too many to mention, but it is genuinely a team effort and can't do any of it without you guys. Also thank you to the young people who attend the sessions and parents again without whom it wouldn't be possible."
