An overview of progress on the North Hykeham Relief Road project.
What we achieved in May
- Further works to temporary site compound and extended parking
- Continued site-wide vegetation clearance, fence installation and access construction
- Continued construction of haul road
- Started demolition of Station Road properties
- Started construction of main site compound towards near the A46 section
- Commenced topsoil strip and preparation works for the materials processing area at Grantham Road / Lincoln Cliff
- Supported The Spires Federation, enhancing Forest School environments for three schools
What’s happening in June
- Continue main construction works and site clearance
- Begin temporary bridge construction to facilitate crossing the River Witham
- Carry out installation of piling platforms for all bridges
- Commence bulk earthworks, including pond construction and drainage ditches
- Continue work to haul roads and site accesses
- Continue main construction of A46 site compound and processing area at Grantham Road
- Continue demolition of Station Road properties
- National Grid utility diversions across the project
- Commence topsoil strip to Lincoln Cliff
- Continue boundary fencing installation and preparation of work areas for future construction phases
Current/ongoing traffic restrictions and closures
- Temporary traffic restrictions i.e. reduced speed limits at all junctions
- Temporary traffic signals at main junctions to facilitate construction of accesses and haul road crossings (located at South Hykeham Road, Brant Road, Grantham Road, and Station Road)
- Various alterations to Public Rights of Way near to where the relief road is being built from, including the Viking Way footpath
- Closure of Somerton Gate Lane
- Diversion route via Hill Top / Station Road / Brant Road.
- Access will be maintained for residents, the allotments, and local businesses from the Station Road / Hill Top end
Upcoming traffic restrictions and closures
- Monday 22 June - 24/7 road closures on South Hykeham Road for National Grid utility works
- Diversion route via Butts Lane / Bridge Road / A46 / Newark Road / Boundary Lane, and vice versa
