The town’s new hub location can now be renovated thanks to a £15,000 funding boost from the county council.
In June, Burgh le Marsh Town Council purchased the methodist church on Jacksons Lane as a new location for the town’s library and community hub.
Now, thanks to funding from Lincolnshire County Council’s Strategic Grant Fund, the building can be refurbished ready for the community to use.
Cllr Jimmy Brookes, county councillor for Skegness South nominated the project for funding.
He said: “This is exactly what community funding should be about - investing in projects that bring people together and make a real difference locally. I was proud to put this forward for funding because Burgh le Marsh deserves investment and this will create a modern, welcoming space that can benefit residents of all ages for many years to come.”
Cllr Jim Moss Burgh le Marsh Town Councillor, and Library Chairman, said: “Burgh le Marsh Town Council is pleased to confirm the purchase of the former Methodist Church building, securing a permanent and enhanced home for our library and community hub facilities.
“The building requires some internal renovation work, and we are extremely grateful to Lincolnshire County Council for awarding community grant funding that will enable the Council to begin works on this important project. The works will include levelling the floor within the church room to create a modern, accessible library space. This funding allows the Council to commence the renovations, which are due to begin at the end of September 2026.”
Ten projects have initially been awarded money from the Strategic Fund, including this one, but there’s still funding up for grabs.
