The Spalding to Pinchbeck Active Travel improvement project will include:
- increasing the accessibility and safety of sustainable travel in Spalding and Pinchbeck
- creating a mixture of segregated and shared cycleways and footways between the two

- increasing opportunities for people to travel by walking, wheeling, and cycling
- improving safety for pedestrians and cyclists
- supporting the health and wellbeing of Spalding and Pinchbeck residents
- enhancing Lincolnshire’s walking and cycling network
- reducing carbon emissions by encouraging more people to travel by walking, wheeling, and cycling
Cost and funding
The project is expected to cost £1.8m and will be funded by Active Travel England’s ‘Tranche 3 Active Travel Fund’, which was awarded to Lincolnshire County Council in May 2022.
Timeline
- May 2022: County council awarded £1.8 million in funding from Active Travel England’s ‘Tranche 3 Active Travel Fund’
- February 2024: Feasibility study completed with a preferred route identified
- May 2025: Public information events held
- June 2026: Construction begins
- Winter 2026*: Project complete
