Overview
Lincolnshire is proud of its close links with military communities, both serving and veterans, having several bases from different branches of the armed forces.
We are passionate about supporting and understanding the needs of all our residents, that includes those service members who have the unique requirements aligned with military life.
Lincolnshire is part of the Ministry of Defence Local Authority Partnership (MODLAP). This is a partnership between the MOD and 16 English local authorities that have committed to work together to improve the experience and outcomes of children of UK Armed Forces families.
Education
SEND
If you have been notified of a move to Lincolnshire, you should let the SEND Service know as soon as it is confirmed.
This will assist our team in arranging the transfer of information about an Education, Health and Care (EHC) plan or ongoing needs assessments. It is helpful to make sure the school knows our contact details for sending us paperwork and that we know details for any Military Welfare Liaison Officers assisting the move. How to contact our team
Armed Forces Covenant
Lincolnshire County Council has signed up to the Armed Service Covenant . It is implemented, in relation to SEND, when children and young people with an EHC plan from MoD families move into Lincolnshire. We are committed to ongoing effective liaison with families and any MoD education officers supporting the family.
We recognise that for service children, even more so for those with SEND, the challenges they can face. We are committed to working with families and other stakeholders to reduce these.
Support services
Liaise is Lincolnshire's Special Educational Needs and Disability Information, Advice and Support Service (SENDIASS).
They provide confidential and impartial information, advice and support to children and young people up to the age of 25, with SEN and disabilities, and their parents and carers.
Lincolnshire Parent Carer Forum (LPCF) work alongside the local authority to help ensure that the services they plan, commission, deliver and monitor meet the needs of children with SEND.
