Early support learning provision (ESLP) is a commissioned service to support children with disabilities and their families. ESLP supports children who have a disability or complex health condition in their early years (aged 0 to 4 years up until reception year).
The service provides parents and carers with a short break from their caring responsibilities at the ‘time to play’ sessions, whilst also providing social and learning opportunities for the children.
This service runs operates 46 weeks across the year, each time to play session is 1 hour and 55 minutes with time before and after for safe handover. They are delivered within the children centres and family hubs.
Families will be offered a time limited block of short break sessions.
Timetable of time to play sessions
Time to play sessions are planned in line with the early years foundation stage and delivered in an enabling environment.
Children will be supported by highly experienced and qualified practitioners who understand your individual situation and who will encourage your child’s development and independence and support the transition to be ready for pre-school and reception helping them to achieve their full potential.

How to access the service
Request to access support can be completed by professionals, parents or carers.
All referrals will be triaged by a panel. The panel will assess the request for support and ensure it meets the eligibility criteria for the short break. If a request of support does not meet the eligibility threshold, families will be signposted for support from another appropriate service based on the needs of the child and family.
