Spalding Active Travel Improvements

The Spalding Active Travel ‘Levelling Up’ improvement project in Spalding will include:

Phase One: from Fulney Avenue, building a 3m wide footway/cycleway near the skatepark to the southside of Holbeach Road; adding a dropped crossing to the northside of Holbeach Road; and resurfacing the footway/cycleway on Holbeach Road up to the Camel Gate roundabout

Phase Two: the project team is exploring the possibility of building a new footway/cycleway along Coronation Bank to Springfields Outlet Shopping & Leisure. Further details about this second set of works will be shared once more information is available.

Aims and benefits

  • safer and more reliable sustainable travel options in Spalding
  • make it easier for people to walk or cycle
  • improve connectivity via the area’s footways and cycleways
  • new surfacing on the existing shared use path on Holbeach Road
  • improve connections to the Springfield Outlet area

Cost and funding

The estimated cost is £380,000, which will be funded by a portion of the £20m in ‘Levelling Up’ funding awarded to the county council in October 2021.
