Plan of Station Road realignment

This project will link the Lincoln Eastern Bypass with the existing Western bypass to create a ring road. It will also form part of the Lincolnshire Coastal Highway.

Aims and benefits

The project aims and benefits are to:

  • assist the sustainable economic growth of Lincoln and Lincolnshire
  • improve the quality of life in central Lincoln and surrounding area
  • maximise accessibility to central Lincoln
  • improve road safety in central Lincoln and the other settlements nearby

Cost and funding

£110 million was allocated for the project in November 2020 from the Department for Tranport's 'Large Local Majors' programme.

The remaining budget will be funded by Lincolnshire County Council and developer contributions, which the council will forward fund.

The preferred route

A public consultation on the scheme started in October 2005 and a preferred route was determined and adopted in April 2006.

This route is allocated in the Local Plan and has therefore been consulted upon and benefits from planning policy status.
